Welcome

An open letter from our new Head of School, Sam Richards:

It is with both enthusiasm and humility that I accept your terrific offer to serve as Hampstead Academy’s next Head of School. Hampstead Academy’s inspiring mission to enable students to develop academic potential and individual talents in a caring atmosphere that cultivates creative thinking, upstanding character, service to others, and enthusiasm for learning fits nicely with my values and experience.

Each time I stepped onto the HA campus I felt a sense of collegiality coming from not only the teachers and leaders of HA but also from the children themselves. The students’ humor, openness and obvious affection for the faculty and their school speaks volumes about the relevance of Lyn Kutzelman’s founding vision so alive and vibrant thirty-five years later. While the students and faculty were impressive, it was also the dedication and commitment of the Search Committee, the Board, the parents and administrative leadership that made me feel so comfortable. Every interaction I had confirmed a dedication to what’s best for students and the anticipation of an exciting and healthy future in the years to come.

It is with great respect for Hampstead Academy, Lyn Kutzelman and your capable stewardship that I consider this change for me and my family. I look forward to living in and learning about the Hampstead community. Most importantly, I look forward to leading Hampstead Academy and continuing the inspirational legacy of the successful educators and leaders who have created such an extraordinary place for children. I sincerely appreciate you giving me this wonderful opportunity.

Respectfully,
Samuel S. Richards

This nurturing atmosphere sets the stage not only for optimal learning to occur but also growth in peer relationships, self-awareness and self-confidence for all who attend the school.
