The Hampstead Academy Board of Advisors was formed in 1994 based on recommendations from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The primary goal of the Board is to ensure the continuance of the school and secondly, to support the school's mission delivery by advising in areas such as admissions, development, curriculum, public relations, safety and finance. The Board is made up of parents and teachers who represent the Upper and Lower School along with Lyn Kutzelman - Director, Keith Wheeler - Head of School, Chairperson - Paul Burnim and Kutzelman family members - George Kutzelman, Stacy Kutzelman and Julia Pierrat. Board members are selected by the Head of School and serve for a three-year term.

Hampstead Academy Board of Advisors By-Laws
Hampstead Academy is a private, for-profit 'C' corporation. As such, the development and implementation of policy are pivotal in the day-to-day management role of the Head of School who works closely with the Coordinating Teachers, Board of Advisors, PTA Officers, Teachers, Parents and Students when making important decisions.
The Board of Advisors is established to focus in the following areas:
FUTURE GOVERNANCE
Assumes specific responsibilities should the Head of School be unable to continue her duties.
- Elects a member of the Board of Advisors to serve as an Interim Head of School in liaison to the Kutzelman family to maintain continuity in carrying out the purposes and objectives in accordance with the mission statement until such time as new leadership is in place.
- The Interim Head of School participates in decision making of the Kutzelman family to the extent that the Board deems necessary and appropriate to ensure continued leadership and stability of Hampstead Academy.
- The Board may also be directly involved in hiring a new Head of School.
POLICY MAKING
Collaborates in reviewing and updating the Hampstead Academy mission statement throughout the year by having periodic discussions with parents, students and staff to determine if it is, in fact, being fully implemented and realized.
- Creates surveys, as needed, to study overall school needs.
- Reviews curriculum and gives feedback to Coordinators.
- Works closely with the Head of School and Coordinators in reviewing and recommending changes or additions to school policies as published in the Parent, Teacher and Student handbooks to ensure consistency and continuity.
ADMINISTRATIVE OVERSIGHT
Collaborates with the Head of School in guaranteeing the school's fiscal health and continuation.
- Reviews financial policy and planning including tuition, budget, capital needs and improvements.
- Addresses facility maintenance and safety issues/concerns.
- Reviews and updates admissions policies.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Helps create and maintain a positive image throughout the school and local community.
- Personally and publicly supports efforts and programs of the PTA, Teachers and Administration.
- Responds positively to concerns, rumors and comments that may be about HA policies or members of its staff, reports on these at the next board meeting and generates sufficient discussion to create a consensus response.
- Reaches out, when the opportunity presents itself, to communicate the school's mission and to promote a positive reputation.
